A man known to police as a gang leader was citied for not having a rear registration light on his car when he was stopped after leaving a weekly members meeting, reports said. Police learned that the 99th Street and Harlem Avenue faction of the Satan’s Disciples were meeting at a home in the 7000 block of West Oxford Street in Bridgeview. After observing a Chevy Malibu driven by William Smith, 35, leave the meeting he was stopped at 95th Street and Nashville Avenue when police saw that the car’s registration was not properly illuminated. Police said that two other gang members were riding with Smith. The police canine was brought in who alerted officers to several areas of the vehicle for possible narcotics, reports said. Police searched the car and occupants but did not find any contraband.  After issuing Smith a citation, police seized his black and yellow hat, which police say are the Satan’s Disciples colors. Garage Party

Police were called to a foreclosed home on the 4000 block of West Dean Drive after possible trespassers were reported on the property around 1:30 p.m. As police got closer they heard a commotion in the garage. Police observed two men identified as Joseph Eddie Rodriquez, 21, and Matthrew Wrobel, 23, inside the garage. According to the report, both men said they knew the owners had moved and were looking for a place to hang out and drink. The men also told police they were visiting a friend who lived a few doors down that had told them about the foreclosure. When police went to talk to the friend, he said he’d been in court all day and hadn’t talked to Rodriguez or Wrobel. Police said both men volunteered that they knew they were not allowed on the premises but didn’t think they’d get caught. Police contacted the real estate agent on his cell phone who said he’d been advised by a neighbor a few days ago of two males entering the home and garage. Both men were taken to the police station. The real estate agent showed up and said the rear and garage doors were damaged. Police said the men denied causing the damage. Rodriguez, of the 5000 block of West Wick Drive in Oak Lawn, and Wrobel, of the 4300 block of West 118th Street in Alsip, were both charged with criminal trespassing. At the time of the report, they were being held pending bond and are to appear in court again on Feb. 23.

Police report information is provided by the and other law enforcement agencies. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
