Man's Earring Snatched on Bus

While riding the 381 Pace bus, around 3:30 p.m., a 20-year-old man struck up a conversation with another man who admired his diamond-stud earrings. When the man asked if he could see one of the earrings, the 20-year-old removed one and handed it to the man. The man then asked if he could put the earring into his ear. The 20-year-old told him no. Police said the man pulled the stop cord and tried the get off the bus with the earring. The 20-year-old grabbed the man around the waist, who began punching the 20-year-old’s face and tried to remove the second earring. The man was able to get off the bus at 95th Street and McVicker Avenue, along with the 20-year-old’s earring.

The 20-year-old was on his way to work and did not call police. Later, the 20-year-old’s supervisor told him he could go the police station to file a report. According to the 20-year-old, the bus driver told him that the robbery had been recorded on camera. The 20-year-old told police that the man usually gets on the bus at 95th and Ashland and gets off at 95th and McVicker around the same time every day.
