Police Blotter: Sink Rage, Food Fight, Smash 'n' Grabs

SATURDAY, JAN. 22

Bathroom Sink Smashed

Someone walked into the restroom at Lambton’s Auto, 4808 W. 96th Pl., and smashed the bathroom sink to pieces, according to a police report. The owner reported the damaged sink to police at 9 a.m. There was no damage to the toilet, and a snow blower that was stored in the john was untouched. Over the summer, a handyman worked for the service station when he felt like it and did shoddy work, the owner told police. The handyman was let go but keeps calling the owner asking for work. The owner and another mechanic think the handyman is responsible.

FRIDAY, JAN. 21 

Dinner Ruined

A husband and wife were enjoying a nice dinner at TGIF, 5420 W. 95th St., until they discovered that someone had smashed the window on their car around 8:30 p.m. The thief grabbed the wife’s purse that was sitting on the back seat, along with her driver’s license and Social Security card.

THURSDAY, JAN. 20

Kids Gone Wild

Police responded to a disturbance call at Buffet City, 8708 S. Cicero Ave., where about 60 juveniles were reportedly throwing food and dishes at each other in the restaurant. The manager told police the kids came to restaurant around 6 p.m., finished eating and began throwing dishes at each other. The cops asked the manager if he and his staff could identify the delinquents. The manager said that after the fight, he couldn’t and just wanted everyone out. Police told the crowd to leave and not return. Buffet City then closed for the rest of evening. Forty plates and 20 cups valued at $400 were destroyed, according to the report.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 19 

Registered Sex Offender

Jacob Michael Lundstrom, 21, reported to the Oak Lawn Police Department and advised police that he was convicted the day before and sentenced to 30 months’ probation for possession of child pornography, a police report said. Lundstrom provided a valid driver’s license with an Oak Lawn address on the 8900 block of South Ridgeland. 

TUESDAY, JAN. 18

Hubcaps Stolen

Someone swiped the hubcaps off a car that was parked on a driveway on the 8900 block of South Sproat sometime before 9:15 a.m.

Smash and Grab 

A GPS was stolen out of a car parked in a driveway on the 9600 block of South 50th Court sometime before 7:30 a.m. The thief smashed the window to get at the device.
