POLICE BLOTTER: Stolen TVs, Tools In Pants

Stolen TVs

A 54-year-old man reported two TVs missing from his home on the 9700 block of South Natoma Avenue after returning from a weekend trip around 5:15 p.m. Police said the man locked the door and put wood in front of it before leaving for his vacation home the day before. When he came home, he found the front door unsecured. Police said the man believes his son is responsible for the stolen TVs. The man told police that his son, who has had a drug problem since a teenager, has stolen things from the house before and is not allowed inside when no one is home. Police said the son knew his father would be out of town for the weekend. The son does not have a key.

Tools In Pants

Gary Johns, 24, was charged with retail theft after a loss prevention officer observed him opening packages of battery-operated tools and placing them inside his pants at Home Depot at 4060 W. 95th Ave., police said. Johns was stopped by the loss prevention officer and issued a village citation for retail theft. He has a scheduled hearing at village hall on April 3. Police said the estimated loss was $274.
