POLICE BLOTTER: Tulip Plucking Children, Dog Attack

Oak Lawn police reports, April 27 to May 2.

Tulip Plucking Children

A resident reported that some children picked tulips from his yard in the 5000 block of West Lamb Drive sometime before 3:12 p.m.. The neighbor believed the alleged act of delinquency was the work of children that live down the street. Officers observed the plucked tulips lying on the sidewalk in front of the resident’s home. Police went to go talk to the kids’ parents, and cited them for allegedly leaving their garbage cans out on a non-collection day. According to the report, garbage day was the Tuesday before.

Dog At Large

A 50-year-old woman reported that she was out walking her Yorkie in the 9600 block of South Kolmar when a large mixed-breed dog came bounding out of his residence and attacked her dog around 11:36 a.m. The woman told police that she and her husband rushed their dog to the vet where the pup was undergoing surgery to stitch up a large laceration on its neck at the time of the report. The couple said that the owners of the dog that attacked theirs’ was very helpful in separating the dogs and apologetic. The Yorkie weighed 20 pounds and the owners wanted the incident documented. Police went to speak to the big dog’s owners but no one was home.

I live same block and these kids are always unsupervised. Ages range from maybe 2-6. The six year old is the one "watching" the younger kids outside while the adults in the house are getting high. I know this because their pitbull chased one of my kids into our house. My husband went to knock on the door and waited for 10 minutes, he was greeted with the smell of marijuana! Poor kids, it's not their fault they have shitty parents!

6 yr. olds can not properly supervise 2 yr. olds.A 2 yr. old outside unsupervised is considered endangerment of a minor. There's your child abuse. Bully breed dogs are great when they have great owners.
