Police: Dust-Off Huffer Arrested in Parking Lot

Police say Evergreen Park man had straw up his nose from can of dust-off product when confronted in parking lot.

An Evergreen Park man was charged with using intoxicating compounds after he was found ingesting a dust-off product while sitting in his car, reports said.

Oak Lawn police responded to an ambulance call at Home Depot, 4060 W. 95th St., in Oak Lawn, around 11:56 a.m. Nov. 22.

According to the report, a man identified as Kyle C. Summers, 41, of the 2900 block of West  97th Place in Evergreen Park, was seen “huffing” from a container.

The officer spoke to the 911-caller, who pointed out Summers still sitting inside his car. When the officer approached Summers, he was in the driver’s seat holding a metal can with a red straw up his nose, police said.

Police said the officer knocked on the driver’s side window just as Summers was ingesting the contents of the can. Summers was ordered out of his car as other police officers arrived.

Two cans of CRC Duster, a dust remover that contains compressed gas, were laying in plain view on the front seat, reports said.

Officers talked to the caller, who said he saw Summers allegedly slumped over the steering wheel. When the caller knocked on the car window, Summers would not respond so he called 911, reports said.

As Summers was being questioned, police said he appeared to have trouble concentrating while answering their questions. Summers allegedly denied ingesting the contents of the can.

He refused medical treatment and was taken into police custody. Summers is due in court in Bridgeview on Dec. 13.
