SATURDAY, DECEMBER 24

Fisticuffs at Homeless Shelter

Police were called to the PADS shelter at Trinity Evangelical Church, 9701 S. Brandt Ave. to intervene in a fight around 5 p.m. According to witnesses, two men had gotten into an argument inside the shelter, when one of them punched the other guy in the head after he was accused of being a gang member. The man who was punched had a small cut but refused medical attention. He did not want to press charges. PADS employees advised the aggressor that he was no longer welcome there and police advised him as well.

Another Flying Reindeer

A 45-year-old man said someone drove across his front lawn on the 10600 block of South LeClaire Avenue around 10 p.m., striking his plastic lighted deer and tree. Police said there were tire tracks through the grass across several lawns. The lighted deer head was found at the corner of LeClaire and 105th Place. The homeowner said he didn’t hear anything from inside the hours, nor does his family have any problems with someone that would compel them to drive across his lawn. Damages are estimated at $60.

‘Woman Walks Into the Police Station’

A 52-year-old woman making a report on an unrelated matter at the Oak Lawn police station was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Police said that after checking the database, the discovered that Lynne S. Rasor of Worth, was wanted on an outstanding Cook County warrant for driving under the influence. Bail was set at $5,000.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 14

Theft Charges Dropped Against Cashier

EDITOR'S NOTE: Misdemeanor theft charges against Krista Salinas were dropped on March 26, 2012, according to Cook County Court records. An Oak Lawn woman faces theft charges after store security said she was observed on surveillance TV voiding a transaction then removing $152 from the register drawer at Sports Authority at 9633 S. Cicero Ave., reports said. Krista Salinas, 19, faces charges of theft after an internal store investigation that began Nov. 22. Police said Salinas performed a sale for 10 items. After returning $47 in change back to the customer in exchange for $200, she voided out the sale and pocketed the difference from the register. On Oct. 22, she performed a similar transaction for a jacket after ringing it up for a customer. She voided out the transaction yet still gave the jacket to the customer, according to the report. Salinas has a Jan. 24 court date in Bridgeview.
