Police: Gang Members Punch Men, Break Side Mirror

A pair of brothers said to be documented members of Latin Counts get into altercation with two other men at gas station, police said.

responded to a fight in progress between four men at a gas station on Nov. 3.

After interviewing the four subjects, police charged two brothers, Joshua Arriago, 20, and Arturo Luis Arriago, 21, both of Nottingham Park with battery and criminal damage to property. Both brothers are said to be documented members of the Latin Counts, reports said.

Police encountered the Arriago brothers while sitting in their car in the parking lot of the Marathon station at 9329 S. Cicero Ave. around 9:20 p.m. Joshua told police that one of the men punched him in the face with his fist, but officers could see any visible marks on Joshua’s face.

Officers spoke to the other men, a 19-year-old and an 18-year-old. According to he 19-year-old said he was walking out of the station to pump gas into his car, when Joshua asked him, “You got a staring problem?”

Police said that Joshua pushed the other man they began wrestling. Arturo Arriago got out of the car and punched the 19-year-old in the face.

The 18-year-old got out of his car and went to help his friend. Police said that Joshua punched the younger man in the face. Arturo went to the men’s car and broke off the side mirror, reports said.

Police said that because of a large cut on the 19-year-old’s lip, they found their story more credible than the brothers’ who claimed the other men had started the fight.

The brothers were taken into custody. While searching them, police found what tested positive as a marijuana roach on Arturo, who was cited for possession of cannabis, in addition to charges of battery and criminal damage to property.

Joshua was charged with battery.

Both men appear in court in Bridgeview on Dec. 6. Arturo is also to appear in adjudication court at Oak Lawn Village Hall that same day on the possession citation.
