Police: Joliet Couple Beats on Friend, Takes Car

A woman claims that her friends carjacked her car after punching her and pulling her hair after night of drinking.

Oak Lawn police responded to a report of a possible carjacking at 100th Street and Southwest Highway early Sunday morning, March 13.

According to reports, police met with a 45-year-old woman who said that her female friend and her friend’s boyfriend beat on her and drove off with her car.

Shortly after police spoke to the victim, they found her car at 95th Street and McVicker Avenue, along with her friends.

Kathleen Henrickson, 47, and her boyfriend, Lauro Reyes, 48, both of Joliet, were charged with battery and possession of drug equipment, when police found a marijuana pipe in Henrickson’s purse.

The victim told police that the three were drinking in a bar in Chicago Ridge. As they were getting ready to leave, Henrickson did not want the victim to drive because she was intoxicated, so the victim turned over her keys to Henrickson.

According to the victim, during the ride Reyes pulled her hair and pinned her down. The victim got out of the call and called 911.

As the couple drove off with the victim’s car, the victim said Henrickson yelled out, “You are going to die, bitch.”

Police said that the Joliet couple gave a different version of events. Reyes said the women argued as they left the bar but that no physical assault occurred.

Henrickson said it was the victim who pulled her hair while Henrickson was driving, so she stopped the car and punched the victim several times. Henrickson then drove to McDonald’s and parked the car and all three walked away, the report said.

The victim told police that she did not remember how her car ended up at McDonald’s. She signed battery complaints against the couple. Police charged Henrickson with possession of drug equipment after they found the pipe in her purse.

No court information was noted in the report.
