Kevin L. Walker, 44, of the 2600 block of North Sheffield Avenue in Chicago, was charged with felony theft on June 7.

The elderly woman was walking home from the supermarket on the 10300 block of South Pulaski Road shortly after 1 p.m. Out of no where, police said, a man identified as Walker grabbed her large multi-colored bag from her hand.

An employee returning to her job witnessed the alleged robbery and ran into her workplace to call 911. The employee told Oak Lawn police that a baldheaded man identified as Walker circled the parking lot in a beige car and stopped behind the elderly woman, police said.

Walker allegedly ran up to the elderly woman, grabbed her multi-colored bag, then got back in his car and drove away.

spoke to the elderly woman at her residence. She was walking home from the supermarket carrying her groceries and purse in her bag. After her purse was snatched, she was able to get the last four numbers of Walker’s license plate, officers said.

She told police that she went home and also called 911.

Evergreen Park police apprehended Walker when his car came to a stop at a dead end on the 9400 block of Charles Street in Chicago, reports said. The last four numbers on Walker’s plate matched those the elderly woman provided to Oak Lawn Police.

The elderly woman’s bag was found on the front seat of Walker’s car, police said. Both the elderly woman and employee were taken to where he was stopped, and positively identified Walker, police said.

Walker was taken to the Oak Lawn police station but declined to give a statement, police said.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office approved the felony robbery charge due to the woman’s age.

Walker was being held pending an appearance at the Bridgeview Court House on June 8.

Walker is some kind of manly man. Snatching a purse from an elderly woman. Shame there wasn't someone around to thwart his actions and leave him with some bruises.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.. Crimes against the elderly are performed by the lowest form of human life! Throw him in a cell with a 375 pound cell mate who adores his grandmother.. Now tell "Bubba" why his new cell mate is visiting.....Justice quick and sweet...

I live in Oak Lawn and have much respect for the OLPD. They are worth their weight in gold. Bringing the victim and the witness to the area the criminal was apprehended was a great idea.

The State's Attorney will require a positive ID before they will approve felony charges. Without the "show up", the offender won't be charged with anything more than a misdemeanor.
