Blunt at Pump 7

A Chicago man was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, possession of cannabis and drug equipment when he was spotted allegedly rolling a blunt at the BP at 10259 S. Cicero Ave. Oak Lawn police detectives noticed a man identified as Husam E. Hindi, 21, appear to be emptying the tobacco out of a cigar into the garbage near Pump 7 around 5:38 p.m., police said. “With knowledge that it is common to place cannabis inside cigar paper,” the report said, police approached Hindi in his car. Police said that Hindi refused to unlock his car doors when ordered out of the car and was stuffing cannabis between the driver’s seat and center console. An officer reached through the open sunroof of Hindi’s car and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, reports said. Hindi unlocked the door and exited the car without further incident. Police said they recovered 2.5 grams of suspected marijuana and a scale with pot residue inside Hindi’s car. A spring-load knife was also discovered lying on the dashboard, reports said. Hindi allegedly told police he was scared when they walked up to his car because cops killed his cousin last year. Police said Hindi admitted to rolling a blunt when detectives approached his car. Hindi was taken to the Oak Lawn police station. Police said the cannabis would be submitted to the state crime lab for testing. Hindi’s next court date is July 21.
