Police: New Lenox Woman Runs Over OL Cop Fleeing Coke Arrest

Woman refused to unlock her doors, ran over cop and got away during drug arrest, police said.

An arrest warrant was obtained for a former resident that eluded arrest during a pre-arranged cocaine sting, reports said.

Oak Lawn police learned from a “confidential source” that Brittany Alyssa Rotto, 23, of the 700 block of Schoolgate Road, in New Lenox, had allegedly called to ask if he wanted to purchase two eight-balls of cocaine.

Detectives arranged a sale between the confidential source and Rotto in the McDonald’s parking lot at 91st Street and Cicero Avenue.

Police set up surveillance and at 9:40 p.m. March 17, Rotto’s gray Mazda entered the parking lot, reports said.

Rotto called the confidential source and told him she didn’t want to do the deal at McDonald’s but on 91st Street, police said.

According to the report, the confidential source got into Rotto’s car and the two took off for the 4700 block of West 91st Street. Police followed Rotto’s car as it turned westbound on 91st Street. The car was eventually found in parked in the 9000 block of 49th Court.

Police said Rotto and the confidential source returned to the McDonald’s parking lot. The confidential source got out of her car and returned to the police surveillance vehicle with two bags of suspect cocaine, reports said.

Rotto left the parking lot, heading southbound on Cicero Avenue. Both marked and unmarked police cars surround the Mazda at Cicero and Southwest Highway, police said.

Police said that Rotto refused to unlock her car doors. After allegedly ignoring several orders to open her car doors, detectives attempted to break the driver’s window.

Officers were able to eventually break the driver’s window and tried to remove Rotto from the car, reports said. Rotto reportedly began backing up and pulling forward, hitting two police cars.

Police said that while trying to get away, Rotto struck an Oak Lawn police officer. She was able to free her car and flee southwest bound down Southwest Highway, reports said.

Rotto allegedly blew several traffic lights while running away from police. Oak Lawn detectives contacted New Lenox and Tinley Park Police Departments, and the Cook County Sheriff.

Family members were unsure of Rotto’s whereabouts. Detectives could not reach Rotto on her cell phone, police said.

The suspect contraband tested positive for cocaine. The Mazda that Rotto was driving was entered into felony leads as a wanted vehicle.

Oak Lawn police obtained a warrant for Rotto’s arrest on charges of aggravated battery, manufacturing a controlled substance, and aggravated fleeing from a police officer.

The police report did not indicate whether the police officer whom Rotto allegedly struck was injured.
