Police Say Woman Filled Purse with Bottles of Liquor

Oak Lawn police charge Evergreen Park resident with retail theft at Jewel-Osco.

An Evergreen Park woman was arrested on July 15 for stealing liquor from the Jewel-Osco at 9424 S. Pulaski Rd.

Elaine M. McFee, 44, was charged with retail theft after police found her purse full of liquor, according to the report.

The store manager told police that a Jewel pharmacist noticed McFee in the liquor section of the store, which was closed. According to the pharmacist, McFee opened her purse and placed several bottles of liquor in it before walking away.

After speaking with the manager, police waited outside the store for McFee, who came out a few minutes later pushing a shopping cart with only her purse inside.

According to the report, officers asked McFee if she had made any purchases in the store, to which she responded that she had not. Officers then inquired if she had stolen any items, and she indicated that she did.

Upon opening her purse, officers found four bottles of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum and two bottles of Jack Daniels whiskey, according to the report.

The officers took McFee into custody and charged her with retail theft. The store printed a receipt for the stolen alcohol, which totaled $107.94, which police took into evidence.

McFee is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on Aug. 11 in Bridgeview.
