POLICE: Teens Drive Recklessly Through Cemetery, Gang Graffiti

Oak Lawn police reports, May 12 through May 22.

TUESDAY MAY 22

Fly Dumping

Police met with the owner of a building on the 5300 block of West 110th Street who said that someone has been dumping illegally in her parking lot. Around 11 a.m., one of her tennats said some had dumped 15 windows in their parking lot. She said there more construction materials dumped in front of the same business but did not report it. The owner also owns property on the 5400 block of West 110th Street, which has had 10 incidents of illegal dumping.

SUNDAY, MAY 20

Garbage In the Garden

An employee reported that a car full of teenagers was driving recklessly through Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery at 11222 S. Central Ave. around 12:39 p.m. Police said a visitor informed the employee that teens damaged a garbage can and fled. A damaged garbage can was located in the Garden of the Apostles section. No other damage was found.

MONDAY MAY 21

Information for Police

Police spoke with a security offcer at Midwest Title Loans at 9058 S. Cicero Ave. On two occasions, a 2000 blue Oldsmobile drove past the store looking inside around 4 p.m. The driver, a male black with a large build and curly hair, matched the description of the bandit that robbed the business in January. The man is also believed to have robbed franchises in Burbank, Markham and Chicago. The car was last seen headed southbound on Cicero Avenue. Police could not locate the car.

SUNDAY MAY 13

Disorderly House

Police could hear loud music coming from a house on the 10400 block of Keeler Avenue while investigating a noise complaint around 3:47 a.m. A neighbor said this has been an ongoing problem. Police have been to the home before and have written citations. The owner was cited for keeping a disorderly house.

SATURDAY MAY 12

Gang Graffiti Found on Garage

Someone wrote “UPT UPTOWNS” in read on a garage on the 9500 block of South Meade Avenue sometime before 2:50 a.m. A neighbor who keeps an eye on the alley said the graffiti was not there at 11 a.m. Police think it could be referring to a Chicago street gang.
