Two Public Safety Town Halls Planned for Dec. 4 and Dec. 6

In light of recent incidents in Oak Lawn, including a woman robbed at the ATM at Bank of America on 111th and Pulaski, Oak Lawn police will host two public safety meetings for the community on Dec. 4 and Dec. 6.

Mayor Dave Heilmann and Police Chief Bill Villanova will address plans, field questions and talk about the Everbridge Emergency Alert System. The emergency alert system sends phone calls, text and email alerts to residents whenever there is an alert in the area regarding a possible crime, dangerous weather approaching or traffic incidents.

The meeting will also cover information about starting a neighborhood watch program. The program is designed for residents to take a more active role in their community to help keep it safe.

Computers will also be available where residents can sign up to receive emergency alerts on their LAN lines or by text on their mobile phones.

A similar town hall in October was attended by 100 residents at Hannum Elementary School.

The public safety town hall meetings are scheduled for Dec. 4 at Kolmar Elementary School; and at on Dec. 6. Both meetings start at 7 p.m.

Please plan on attending these meetings to meeting your neighbors, ask questions and sign up for Everbridge emergency alerts. Residents also are encouraged to spread the word about the meetings to seniors and other neighbors who may not have computer access so they can sign up for the emergency alert system.
