Vorberg Public Indecency Case Rescheduled to September

Daniel Vorberg, 30, of Oak Lawn, is accused of masturbating inside a car that was parked near a Chicago elementary school.

An Oak Lawn man accused of touching himself in a parked car near a Chicago elementary school will be back in front of a judge next month.

Daniel Vorberg, 30, of of the 5000 block of 101st Street in Oak Lawn, appeared briefly in Judge Kerry Kennedy's Bridgeview courtroom on Friday morning before his case was rescheduled.

Vorberg, who has an extensive criminal history, has remained in Cook County jail since May after he violated the terms of his electronic home monitoring. He pleaded not guilty to public indecency charges in June.

Two witnesses saw Vorberg masturbating while holding up a cell phone on April 30, Chicago police said. He was spotted inside a parked car in the 11200 block of South Spaulding Avenue, just up the street from Cassell Elementary School. Six young children were playing nearby.

Vorberg was allowed to stay out of jail on electronic home monitoring. Cook County Sheriff's police said he violated the terms of the monitoring when stepped out of his home in May and was thrown back into jail.

Criminal records and published reports show a long criminal history for Vorberg stretching back to 2001. Almost four years ago, he was hit with child abduction charges for allegedly trying to lure 11-year-old girls into his SUV. Vorberg was acquitted at his second trial on the abduction charges—the first trial ended with a hung jury—but did spent 18 months in county jail awaiting trial.

Vorberg is due in Cook County court again on Sept. 3.
