Police are searching for man who attacked and demanded money from a woman near a Palos Hills lake.
The woman was not hurt in the Wednesday afternoon attack, said Palos Hills Deputy Chief James Boie. A search of Pleasure Lake Park hasn't turned up the attacker, who might be homeless and possibly living in the area. Police are continuing their search.
The woman walked into a nearby North Palos Fire Protection District building after the attack, which happened at about 3:10 p.m. Wednesday. She told police she was exercising on a path that runs around the lake when a man knocked her off a bike and asked for money. The attacker ran off when he found out she didn't have any cash.
She described the attacker as white, 6-feet tall, stocky, about 40 years old and fair-skinned. He was wearing a blue polo shirt and ragged jean shorts. The woman said she believes the man is homeless.
Pleasure Lake is near 108th and Roberts Road.
In a phone message on Thursday, Palos Hills Police Chief Paul Madigan asked residents to be careful in heavily wooded area near Pleasure Lake and to report anything suspicious.
