Woman's Wrist Twisted for Cell Phone

Police say robber followed woman as she crossed 95th Street, then grabbed her phone, plus the week's police and crime news.

Oak Lawn police are investigating a street robbery in which a woman was strong-armed on 95th Street as she walked back to work.

Police said that a 42-year-old woman was carrying her iPhone in her hand when she noticed a man walking behind her as she crossed 95th Street and Kilbourn Avenue around 6:18 p.m. March 11.

Once she reached the first gate opening to the construction site at Advocate Christ Medical Center the man walked up beside her and twisted her wrist before grabbing the phone out of her hand.

The woman told police that the ear buds were still connected to the phone and were pulled from her ears. She yelled at the robber to stop, at which point he spun around and police said she got a good look at his face.

The man ran northbound and she saw him getting into the rear passenger seat of a gray Dodge Charger.

The robber is described a male black, in his late teens to early 20s, around five-feet-five-inches, 145 pounds and scruffy facial hair.

Police said the woman complained of wrist pain but refused medical attention.
