Appeal Assistance Available Through Worth Township

Worth Township is providing assistance to homeowners wishing to appeal their real estate assessments to the Cook County Board of Review.

Worth Township Assessor John Z. Toscas announced that assistance would be available to Worth Township homeowners wishing to appeal their 2012 Real Estate Assessments to the Cook County Board of Review.

The township office will open for review on Oct. 15 through Nov. 14 for filing appeals during Cook County's 2012 tax season.

Assessor Tosca’s staff will assist all Worth Township homeowners with filing a 2012 Real Estate Assessed Valuation Complaint and researching comparable properties through Nov. 9.

Homeowners can also pre-register or file a complaint online before Worth Town Hall opens for review through the Cook County Board of Review.

The Board of Review will process any pre-registration complaint form for review once the relevant township opens for filing during on Oct. 15.

All Worth Township homeowners are encouraged to come to Assessor Toscas’ office at 11601 S. Pulaski Road, in Alsip, and the staff will assist in the preparation and filing of the complaint to try to reduce the assessment.

Worth Township serves the communities of Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park, Hometown, Chicago Ridge, Worth, Alsip Merrionette Park and sections of Blue Island, Robbins, Crestwood, Palos Heights and Bridgeview. 

Homeowners only need to bring in their 14-digit Property Identification Number or PIN located on the property tax bill as well as the home’s deed.

If your property was subdivided in the past year or you moved into a property was subdivided by homes or condos, for example, these residential properties more than likely have had a new PIN assigned.

Visit the Cook County Assessor’s website to locate your new PIN by address.

The deadline for filing the complaint in Assessor Toscas’ office is FRIDAY, NOV. 9, BY 4:30 P.M. For more information or to set up an appointment call 708-371-2900.
