Choose Your Village Board Trustee: Candidate No. 5 Ray Vanderwarren

Dist. 1 residents pick their next Oak Lawn Village Board trustee.

Ray Vanderwarren wants to become the next appointed trustee representing Dist. 1 on the

Oak Lawn Patch will post the videotaped statements of the candidates during the next few days.

The appointed trustee will take place of Jerry Hurckes, who resigned last month to go back to work for Congressman Dan Lipinski.

Dist. 1 residents have until Oct. 1 to email their village board trustee preference to Mayor Dave Heilmann at dheilmann@oaklawn-il.gov. In order to do so, you must be registered to vote in Dist. 1.

Candidate No. 5 Ray Vanderwarren

  • Has lived in Oak Lawn for over 60 years.
  • Attended in Dist. 122; graduated from
  • Met his wife, Kathy, in the sixth grade at Harnew; just celebrated his 50th anniversary.
  • Father of five, grandfather of many.
  • Retired from Norfolk Southern where he worked in numerous supervisory postitions.
  • Says he's available to serve on the Oak Lawn Village Board because he's retired and can devote more time to helping solve his neighbors' problems.
