wasted no time in putting to work after the board’s open meeting on Tuesday.
Trustees voted unanimously 4-0 to accept Mayor Dave Heilmann’s recommendation of Trautsch as the appointed trustee for the Dist. 1. A lifelong resident of Oak Lawn and Dist. 1, Trautsch replaces Jerry Hurckes who resigned as trustee in August.
Heilmann publicly thanked the six other candidates who expressed interest in representing their neighbors in Dist. 1.
Speaking on behalf of his fellow board members, Olejniczak congratulated Trautsch. Trustee Tom Phelan (Dist. 6) did not attend Tuesday’s meeting because of an accident involving his young son.
“He didn’t not want being at the meeting to delay getting a trustee to fill that vacant position,” Olejniczak said. “He, too, would have voted [for Trautsch], so it’s a unanimous decision by the board.”
Trautsch will take the oath of office later this month. Following the meeting, she was asked to sit in the Dist. 1 seat for an executive session to discuss pending litigation and collective bargaining.
