Free Property Tax Appeal Seminar for Worth Twp. Residents

Worth Township taxpayers can attend a free seminar at Thompson-Kuenster Funeral Home in Oak Lawn on Oct. 23.

Thompson and Kuenster Funeral Home and Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak are partnering up to offer a property tax appeal seminar for Worth Township taxpayers seeking to appeal their 2012 property tax assessments.

The hour-long session is designed to educate taxpayers on how to file a successful tax appeal. The seminar includes a presentation by Patlak explaining how property taxes are calculated and Cook County Board of Review appeal procedures.

Worth Township taxpayers will also have the opportunity to work with staff from the Board of Review to address their specific questions and concerns.

The event is free to the public and there is no fee to appeal to the Board of Review. Taxpayers should bring a copy of their most recent tax bill.

The seminar starts at 6:30 p.m.Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Thompson and Kuenster Funeral Home, 5570 W. 95th St., in Oak Lawn.

Worth Township serves the communities of Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park, Hometown, Chicago Ridge, Worth, Alsip Merrionette Park and sections of Blue Island, Robbins, Crestwood, Palos Heights and Bridgeview. 

The Cook County Board of Review is a quasi-judicial agency responsible for adjudicating assessment appeals for all property in Cook County. Commissioner Patlak represents the 1st District of the Board of Review, which encompasses 90-percent of Suburban Cook County and the 19th and 41st Wards of Chicago.

Taxpayers may also file an appeal online by visiting the Board of Review website at www.cookcountyboardofreview.com.

The Popeye's in Burbank has a hand sanitizer installed behind the counter, but honestly, the employees hardly ever use it, which is why, after a horrible experience at that location last July, I have not patronized ANY Popeye's since!!!
