  • 111th Street and Cicero Ave. – There appears to be new movement on the former Kmart building. Tonight the village manager will ask trustees to approve a resolution to remit $100,000 to ComEd for the relocation of overhead electric lines along 111th Street. A bid is also on the table from Environmental Cleansing Corp. to demolish the Kmart building for $489,000. Earlier this year, The village has been
  • Safety Modifications at Southwest Highway and Cicero Ave. – After the Oak Lawn Village Board is poised to vote on a resolution asking IDOT The village traffic review committee unanimously recommended the modifications at the IDOT controlled intersection earlier this month.
  • Electricity Rate Referendum – Oak Lawn trustees will vote on resolution initiating a referendum asking Oak Lawn voters whether to authorize the village to enter into an agreement for electricity aggregation for residential and small commercial customers on the November 2012 ballot. Such programs are becoming increasingly popular because of ComEd rate hikes. Before municipalities can enter into an electricity aggregation agreement, the issue must be approved by a referendum. It appears that an energy aggregation consultant has also been selected, the Progressive Energy Group. Trustees will vote on whether to retain the company’s consulting services.
  • Fall On the Green Audit – A resolution authorizing the village manager to engage Baker Tilly to conduct

Also up for discussion:

  • Roberts’ Rules --Trustees will pick up on last month’s “Order and Decorum” discussion during village board meetings. The mayor has in an attempt to reduce unnecessary fighting during village board meetings. He wants remarks in debates confined to the merits of motion, for village trustees to avoid personalities or using members’ names during debates, and for the chair, in this instance the mayor, to have oversight over what items are placed on the agenda and for all remarks to be addressed through him. Trustee Tom Phelan (Dist. 6) The mayor says that his nine additions are based on Robert’s Rules of Order, which the village board has adopted to conduct its own meetings. Trustees are expected to discuss and vote on the measure tonight.

The Oak Lawn Village Board meeting states at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, at Village Hal, 9466 S. Raymond Ave. The meetings are free and open to the public.
