Lipinski Hosts Job Fair Oct. 7

Looking for a job? Congressman Dan Lipinski wants to help you find one.

Congressman Dan Lipinski (D-IL) will host a Job Fair this Friday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bridgeview Community Center, 7900 S. Oketo Avenue, in Bridgeview.

The fair will provide job seekers an opportunity to meet with a wide range of area businesses that are currently hiring. Attendees should be sure to bring multiple copies of their resume.

“Helping Americans get back to work is my top priority,” Congressman Lipinski said. “This Job Fair is an excellent opportunity for area residents looking for work to network and connect with local businesses."

Participating businesses include, among others: BNSF, Norfolk Southern, Academia Truck Driving School, Cintas Corporation, Brookfield Zoo, EMD, Staffmark, May Trucking, Schneider Trucking, Amtrak, Comfort Keepers, Walgreens, Guardian Security, and UPS.

For more information on attending or participating, please call 312-886-0481.

Hey Dan, What if we can't make it on that day? Are you hosting it at another time? Thanks.

Great idea; why aren't these jobs posted on indeed.com or careerbuilder?
Eileen Cunningham October 10, 2011 at 03:36 pm
Some of these probably are posted, but speaking from HR point of view, you can get hundreds of resumes for a job post. Lipinski's job fair provided the opportunity for an employer to meet viable candidates face to face, instead of trying to make decisions based on a piece of paper. Thanks, Rep. Lipinski, for taking action to help link job seekers to job offerings!

Most of these job fairs are photo opportunities for politicians to pacify their constituents in the current economic crisis. If you do the stats, you'd realize most jobs are not obtained through events like these.

Re: Mother 24's final comment on food handlers hand washing, is there an ordinance requiring hotRead More water in restrooms.? Many have only cold water in both faucets or verrrryyyy slow to respond hot water faucets. This should be a point of inspection for the health inspector (s.) Phinnigin

Re:Phinnigin. I agree!! Most establishments do not have hot water in the restrooms!!! However, whyRead More can't restaurants install hand sanitizer behind the counter? The Popeye's in Burbank has a hand sanitizer installed behind the counter, but honestly, the employees hardly ever use it, which is why, after a horrible experience at that location last July, I have not patronized ANY Popeye's since!!!
