From an earlier story in Patch:

Chicago Real Estate Daily reported in December that Skokie-based developer Taxman Corp. landed seven new tenants after signing Mariano’s to anchor the Gateway to the West Loop Development at Madison and Halsted. Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance Inc., GNC Inc., Eggsperience Pancakes & Café, Massage Envy Spa, Supercuts Inc., Red Mango Inc. and Pet Stuff are set to open there in the spring.

Oak Lawn trustees are set to vote on an ordinance between the village of Oak Lawn and HP Stony Creek LLC approving and authorizing the execution of a ground lease “at the northwest corner of 111th Street and Cicero Avenue.”

A formal announcement and presentation will be made at tonight's village board meeting.

Patch will update this story when more information becomes available.

Next we need a hobby lobby for my knitting needs.
James Stein February 27, 2013 at 03:51 AM
yep there's nothing I will be going there for

I've been to the Mariano's in Arlington Heights and I guarantee Oak Lawn will be pleased to have one in town. I'd describe it as part Whole Foods (but without the prices), a little bit Trader Joe's, the size of an Ikea, with samples like Costco! There was a specialty cheese shop, sushi bar, brick oven pizzeria, gelato shop, fresh juicing station, plus organic and locally grown produce. I could've spent the entire day grocery shopping (and almost did!). As far as I can tell from the Patch article, no other tenants have been confirmed for the OL site; the Ulta, GNC, Supercuts, etc. mentioned are new tenants at the Gateway to West Loop Development anchored by the Mariano's at Madison and Halsted downtown.

I wish they would bring Bennigan's back, or Pizzeria Uno, Texas Roadhouse. We have enough salons and grocery stores
Kjklinger February 27, 2013 at 04:04 AM
Those tenants are for a project in the west loop (read story again). Let's get the details before we crap on this...
Donna February 27, 2013 at 04:45 AM
Eggsperience Pancakes & Café-where is Flapjacks going? I go where Flapjacks goes. Who cares about any of the businesses coming to 111th st; what a waste.
Johnny Rocket February 27, 2013 at 04:56 AM
This is awesome! Mariano's has rave reviews from every other one of its locations. I'm looking forward to this!
Karen February 27, 2013 at 05:47 AM
Those other stores listed above were for the West Loop development, not the one at 111th & Cicero.
Ron Williams February 27, 2013 at 05:58 AM
This is the big revelation for redevelopment?I have been to their other stores, Roundy's. Metro Market and Pick and Save, they are fine stores but nothing special. We have had a few new grocery stores into town and they have failed miserably. Maybe Trader Joes or Whole foods would drive outside consumer interests, but another regular grocery, after the initial newness wears off, even locals will not be guaranteed customers.
Ron Williams February 27, 2013 at 06:07 AM
Check out their other stores: ROUNDY’S SUPERMARKETS, INC. PICK ‘N SAVE . COPPS . RAINBOW . METRO MARKET . MARIANO’S PO Box 473 Milwaukee, WI 53201 414-231-5000. Lets hope this will be an innovative and special venture, their other stores are good, but nothing special.
OakLawn Res February 27, 2013 at 07:03 AM
Ron, I think Mariano's is more upscale than the other chains run/owned by Roundy's. I wish I there was a way to edit my previous comment, but there isn't. After some research, yes Maijer (that I said I would prefer) is a more full service type store, but Mariano's doesn't sound bad AT ALL! The reviews are GLOWING! Can't wait to see who else will join them. Anyone hear a projected completion date yet? Some are looking for an upscale restaurant? Nah, that will go in to replace the current Chuck E Cheese location - JUST KIDDING!!
James Stein February 27, 2013 at 11:44 AM
I agree donna

A Meijer's is going up at 91st and Western in E.P. Being built now
Rick February 27, 2013 at 03:55 PM
I think a Moo & Oink would be more appropriate.
Joyce O'Sullivan February 27, 2013 at 04:04 PM
I didn't know that. I love Meijer's!
Joyce O'Sullivan February 27, 2013 at 04:06 PM
I agree, or a JoAnn's. I hate going out to Crestwood
Wendy February 27, 2013 at 04:37 PM
You're in luck...an earlier Patch article says there is a Texas Corral Grill and Saloon going in where Leona's closed on 95th Street.
OakLawnGuy February 27, 2013 at 05:24 PM
Meijer''s at 91st/Western is scheduled to open spring/summer of this year. You don't even have to drive "across town" to get there. Have at it, and enjoy the Walmart/Sam's traffic on your way.
Ron Williams February 27, 2013 at 06:47 PM
If it is unique and has a different approach than their other other chains, I look forward to having them, maybe the patch could dispatch a writer to visit another Mariano's location and report back.
Susan February 27, 2013 at 06:51 PM
I checked out the mariano's downtown and we should be very happy! It is a very nice store and prices are not as expensive as other small markets.
Elly February 27, 2013 at 07:53 PM
My Boss lives in Lake Zurick and he said we are going to love Mariano's it's better than Meijer's. It's more upscale and the prepared food is superb. I think this is an excellent move for the Town of Oak Lawn.
Ron Williams February 27, 2013 at 08:44 PM
Here are their yelp reviews, it sounds great http://www.yelp.com/biz/marianos-fresh-market-chicago
Ron Williams February 27, 2013 at 09:02 PM
From a yelp review: Here is all you need to know about Mariano's - Incredible selection - much better than Jewel or Dominick's - Great prices on food (haven't bought alcohol) - Pretty good produce (not quite Whole Foods, but way cheaper) - Friendly, knowledgeable staff - especially the meat counter - Tons of great bakery and prepared items - Piano player playing showtoons on Sundays... awesome!
Gary February 27, 2013 at 10:04 PM
Mariano's is a great addition to Oak Lawn. Anyone who knows the grocery store business, knows that they are a class act, keep a very clean store, have reasonable prices and fresh products. They were featured on most of the TV stations when they open a few years ago. Those of you who shop at Trader Joes wiii be pleased.
Shari March 02, 2013 at 02:27 PM
It is so funny to read these comments. I cannot believe how many people go online to complain about a store they have never shopped. I've been to the Mariano's downtown quite a bit. It's a great store. I'll shop at the Oak Lawn location often. Maybe before you complain you should do a little research. All those people complaining about why there aren't stores like this or that should consider their own shopping habits. If the restaurants or stores you want could survive in Oak Lawn they would open there. These places need customers to survive. You know why you don't have an upscale restaurant? Those who tried it couldn't make it. Want a nice, upscale restaurant? Visit the Harvest Room in Palos Heights. It's great and convenient. Not everything is going to be right outside your front door. Sometimes you have to explore to find what you want.
Susan March 02, 2013 at 08:32 PM
The Harvest Room was a very pleasant experience! I will find it hard to go to another restaurant that serves breakfast. I didn't leave feeling greasy or bloated. The food was delicious! The staff was knowledgeable and attentive. The service was excellent. The food is all organic and ffrom local farms. The prices are very reasonable.
Biff Donaldson March 05, 2013 at 07:52 PM
Texas Corral Grill sounds awesome
Phil Crivellone March 14, 2013 at 10:18 PM
Mariano's is great. I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised.
Jaclyn Perez May 12, 2013 at 10:35 PM
I Can't wait! I am very excited, it is nice to see something new coming to the village of Oak Lawn!

What is the timeline for the construction of Marianos in Oak Lawn?
