New Street/Sewer Roofing Bid, Storm Update Fill Last Dance Card for Outgoing Village Board

It's the last Oak Lawn Village Board meeting that Mayor Heilmann and Trustees Trautsch, Duhig and Phelan have to suffer gladly.

It’s the last dance and last chance for romance and love for the outgoing Oak Lawn Village Board.

Tuesday (April 23) is the final village board meeting for outgoing Mayor Dave Heilmann and trustees Cynthia Trautsch (Dist. 1), Tom Duhig (Dist 4.) and Tom Phelan (Dist. 6). The mayor and trustees lost their re-election bids earlier this month; Phelan is leaving office.

Here’s what we’ll be watching:

  • A storm update and emergency declaration – Village Manager Larry Deetjen will be bring everyone up to speed on last week’s rains that filled Oak Lawn’s retention facilities to capacity and flooded a bunch of basements throughout the village. Included in tonight’s report is an emergency declaration that would allow the village to recoup some of its costs keeping the water at bay. Unlike surrounding communities, Oak Lawn seemed to have dodged a bullet last week.
  • Bituminous material contract – Oak Lawn trustees will vote on a bituminous material contract to Crowley-Sheppard Asphalt Inc. of Chicago Ridge in the amount of $46.75 per ton for binder, and $56.75 per ton for surface, budgeted under 2013.
  • Replacement of street/sewer facility roof – The village board will vote on a resolution approving the bid of Olsson Roofing for the street/sewer facility roof removal and replacement project. This is a 2013 budgeted item.

What's not on the agenda -- Last minute appearances by family members, crazy severance packages.

The Oak Lawn Village Board meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month at Village Hall, 9446 S. Raymond Ave. The meetings are free and open to the public.
