The park district does not post employee salaries on its website, then again, it still doesn’t offer online registration to residents either for classes and activities.

While not posted on the park district’s website (the park district still lags behind other nearby communities by not offering online registration for classes and programs) salaries are available for viewing at the administration building at 9400 S. Kenton Ave.

The park district's superintendent of communications, Vince Clark, said the attached salaries reflect gross earnings (before taxes) and that health insurance and other benefits are not included.

The park district, naturally, relies on permanent and seasonal part-time instructors, trainers, life guards and camp counselors to teach, coach and run programs.

Park administrators draw the highest salaries, followed by the next tier of ten which range from $40,000 to $57,000. These employees are charged with supervising special recreation programs ($40,593), safety coordinator ($46,010), and executive assistant ($53,403).

Clark said that Oak Lawn Park District employees are making below what other park districts offer.

“People with master’s degrees are making well under the industry standard,” Clark said. “It’s frustrating but we love what we do and the people we’re working with.”
