Oak Lawn's Polar Vortex By The Numbers

A by-the-numbers look at the village's response to recent weather events, including crash reports, water main breaks, overtime and more.

Oak Lawn's elected officials had high praise for the village’s public works department during Tuesday's village board meeting, despite online complainers.

Referring to the village manager's ditch driving incident in Palos Park on Dec. 12, Tr. Tim Demond (Dist. 1) quipped that Oak Lawn’s streets were so clear of snow that “Larry Deetjen was able to keep on the road.”

Lt. Art Clark, of the Oak Lawn Police Department’s Emergency Management Agency, wrapped up the village’s response to this month's snow and subzero weather in a PowerPoint presentation.

OLPD calls for service between Jan. 1-13, 2014: 1,569

Homes affected by brief power outage Jan. 5: 330 homes
