Opening of Centennial Pool Postponed for Saturday

Centennial Aquatic Center will be closed indefinitely pending repairs, but other Oak Lawn pools will open for the summer season on Saturday as planned.

Opening of the  Centennial Aquatic Center at 94th Street and Nashville originally slated for Saturday, June 7, ihas been delayed due to mechanical issues, the Oak Lawn Park District announced.

Park district officials do not know when Centennial pool will open for the summer until a plumber is brought in to assess the pool’s mechanics after employees noticed the water levels going down.

“Essentially there is a leak in the pool,” park facilities director Joel Craig said. “It’s a matter of isolating it and determining what had failed.”
