Grabowski Doesn't Go Unchallenged in Illinois 3rd GOP Primary

Out of Hometown Ilinois, Richard L. Grabowski is the only southwest suburban candidate on the Republican ticket for the newly drawn, far reaching, mostly southwest suburban 3rd Congressional District in 2012.  Two challengers have emergeded from the western suburbs, so he's not going unchallenged for the party nomination in the Republican Primary.

First on the ballot is Art Jones from Lyons, a perennial filing candidate, known for his alleged anti-semitic and neo-Nazi views.

In a statement made by Pat Brady, chairman of the Illinois Republican Party on Dec. 29, 2011, "Illinois GOP Refuses To Support Neo-Nazi Congressional Candidate," Arthur Jones, who has denied the existence of the Holocaust and is an avowed Neo-Nazi, has filed nominating papers in the 3rd Congressional District to run in the March 2012 primary as a Republican.

"The illinois Republican Party disavows any association with the candidacy of Arthur Jones and ask that all citizens of Illinois do the same," Brady said. "His views and previous statements are repugnant and his candidacy should not and will not be supported in any way by the Illinois Republican Party. Unfortunately, pathetic and ignorant human beings like Arthur Jones still exist--my sympathies are with the members of our Jewish community as well as other communities to which Mr. Jones has directed his hate."

"I admire the values, character and integrity of our leadership in the Illinois Republican Party and applaud their tenacity." says Grabowski.  "Making a stand against racism of all kinds in Illinois politics, as well as in all other areas of our lives, is a very important message to pass on to our younger generations, and would be nice to see other political parties in Illinois who have long lived that old status quo social mentality, finally stand by the same measure and committment.  Let's make Illinois a better place to live."

The third candidate on the ballot is Jim Falvey, an attorney from Western Springs, who has recently spent time and effort defending a detainee from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.  Last I remembered, non-citizens being held for terrorist related activities and ties weren't to be afforded the same rights as US citizens in our US justice system. Military justice was supposed to be prescribed for detainees at Guantanamo, yet some in our legal community don't tend to agree with this prescription.

In an interview with Falvey, Grabowski and several members of the editorial staff from the Chicago Sun-Times, Falvey is a self-described conservative Republican.  When prodded by the staff during the interview, Falvey admitted he would be willing to support the progressive tax.  The progressive tax is what Pat Quinn and most Democrats in Illinois have been pushing down taxpayers' throats as their solution to our fiscal woes.  Increasing taxes while ordinary workers, citizens and taxpayers are still having difficulty making ends meet is not a smart fiscal move. Socially conservative, maybe... fiscally conservative - no!
