Peters (Mt. Greenwood) is a 1973 graduate of Marist and is excited to take helm at his alma mater. Peters has been a part of Marist hockey since 2008, and before that held posts at Sandburg, Andrew, Mt. Carmel, and St. Jude Hockey Club.

Peters retired from the Chicago Fire Department as deputy chief in December 2013 after 36 years of service. With more free time on his hands, he says he is “looking forward to moving the program forward.” The new coach met with players after school Tuesday, and talked about a new chapter for the Marist hockey program. He reminded them of how important their commitment level is on and off the ice. An event for parents and players to meet with the coach and the yet-to-be named assistant coaches is being planned.

The 2014 season will mark the fortieth year of Marist hockey, so coaches and players alike are looking forward to making it a memorable one.
