Grow Green in a Changing Climate

Beth Botts, an award-winning garden writer, will be the keynote speaker at Share the Harvest’s Spring Gathering on Saturday, April 21, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.  Botts will share insights on how to “Grow Green in a Changing Climate.” The free event will also offer participants an opportunity to attend mini-workshops that will help them learn how to:  1) grow a garden for bees and other pollinators, 2) turn trash into “golden” compost, 3) choose plants that “fit” our new climate zone designation, 4) improve garden yields with succession and inter-planting.

A simple lunch will be served and all are welcome.

Share the Harvest, a project of Grace Seeds Ministry, partners with faith communities and other community groups to grow fresh fruits and vegetables that are shared with local food pantries. Share the Harvest aims to: provide delicious and nutritious food for hungry neighbors, educate growing partners about gardening and stewardship of the earth, and help our partners become aware of and respond to the roots of poverty in our communities and the world.  We partner with growers and pantries in Beverly, Morgan Park, Evergreen Park, Oak Lawn, Burbank, Bridgeview and other communities.
