Moraine Valley Hosting Quincy University Graduate Credit Class For High School Teachers

High school teachers who are seeking lane advancement can earn three graduate credit hours from Quincy University by enrolling in a class that will be offered at Moraine Valley Community College, 9000 W. College Pkwy., Palos Hills.

The course, "CTE and Applied Academics," will be held on Oct. 22-23, Nov. 12-13 and Dec. 3-4. Class times are 5 to 9 p.m. on Fridays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Students must attend all classes. The cost is $495.

During class, participants will collaborate in teams with secondary and post-secondary educators, counselors, and administrators to build model curriculum and activities that will work for their respective schools and that will help all students meet high standards, prepare for the next step of their education, and experience success in both school and work.

Students in the class will learn to infuse workplace skills into all areas of instruction, learn and apply models of integrated and applied instruction to their teaching, work in collaboration with other educators to make instruction rigorous and relevant at all levels, connect instruction to learning standards, and design lessons that are applied, differentiated, and brain-friendly.
