Registration Opens for Children's Programs at Library

The Oak Lawn Public Library Youth Services Department will open registration for their Winter 2011 Children's Program Series on Sunday, Jan. 2.  Preference is given to Oak Lawn residents and students of Oak Lawn schools.  Each child's library card must be presented at registration.

This season's offerings include: a variety of storytimes for children age 6 months through age 8, including international sessions spoken in Polish, Spanish and Arabic; "Read to Rover," a monthly program that gives young readers age seven and up a chance to practice reading aloud to a registered therapy dog; monthly nature programs for first through fifth graders; a chess club for students in third through tenth grade; "The Write Stuff," a monthly afterschool program for budding writers in third through fifth grade; family movies shown on school holidays; reading incentive programs for pre-readers and young students; teen game nights, movies, and the Junior Friends of the Library volunteer group for students in sixth through tenth grade; and several family programs, including a magician, a Candy Land Valentine's Day Party and an interactive storyteller performance with games and live animals.
