Here is the entirety of the D123 email sent to parents on Monday evening:

As our school and community continue to grieve the loss of our student, Kaylah Lentine, District 123 would like to take the opportunity to provide several important scheduling updates for our eighth grade students and their families for the upcoming week.

First, the eighth grade class trip to Great America will continue as planned tomorrow, May 29. When students arrive at OLHMS in the morning, the school will have counselors and staff available for any student needing support prior to leaving for the Great America trip. Several counselors will also accompany the students on the trip in the event any student might need additional support throughout the day.

Commencement activities will continue as planned on Wednesday, May 30, beginning at 7:00 PM in the OLHMS gymnasium. The ceremony will run primarily as planned with the addition of a moment of silence to honor and remember Kaylah and the presentation of Kaylah’s diploma to her family.

The eighth grade dance, originally scheduled for Friday, May 25, has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 31. The dance will be held from 7:00-9:00 PM at OLHMS, and staff will be in attendance to once again provide support for any students throughout the event.

Service arrangements have not yet been finalized for Kaylah. We will share the times and locations once we have received final confirmation from the family.

Finally, plans are also being formalized for those wishing to make a donation to Kaylah’s family during this time of loss. A communication piece will be sent out in the very near future with details for those wishing to give in honor of Kaylah.
