The Bulldogs were blanked until the fourth quarter, when Brian Hettiger and Danny Gardner scored a pair of touchdowns, followed by a two-point conversion. It was the end of a long muggy evening and the Redskins ran out of steam.

Richards Coach Tony Sheehan said the first half killed them. He said while every game is a learning experience, the Bulldogs need to learn they can’t make mistakes.

“We’re not good enough to turn the ball over,” Sheehan said. “The old ‘we’re young and inexperienced,’ that’s out the window now. This is Week 2 and we got to get better.”
