Boys Basketball: Marist Stung by Hinsdale South
Hinsdale South 76, Marist 55. After rallying to take the lead in the first half, the Redhawks go ice-cold from the floor and fall to the host Hornets in the Hinsdale South Regional semifinal game.
The Hot Read: Marist’s rally from an early 18-3 hole to take a 30-23 lead midway through the second quarter would be short-lived. Hinsdale South blitzed the suddenly cold-shooting Redhawks with a 14-1 run to close the first half and outscored them 19-5 in the third quarter. With its 76-55 victory, Hinsdale South advanced to the regional championship game.
Patch’s MVP: Hornets guard Phil George scored a game-high 25 points, including 12 of the team’s 19 in the third quarter. He sank five three-pointers in the game and shot 8-of-14 from the field and 4-of-4 from the line.
