Extra Points: Richards Looking Toward Playoffs to Salvage Season

Bulldogs' boys basketball team grateful to get a fresh start after a season of stumbles.

It’s an understatement to say Richards has had a disappointing boys basketball season.

A few weeks ago, the Bulldogs were in the running for the South Suburban Red Division title. Flash-forward to Tuesday night, when Richards fell to 9-16 after the

“We have not gotten any breaks,” Richards coach John Chappetto said. “We prepare to play hard every game. We don’t give up or hang our heads. We lost 16 games this season and in the last four seasons we only lost 18. We’re not quitting. We will play to win in the playoffs.

Richards will play in the Argo Sectional-Chicago Vocational Regional.

Game 1 for Richards in regional play is Monday at 6 p.m. against Hubbard. The Bulldogs are seeded 14th Hubbard is seeded 19th. The winner will play Curie, which is ranked 3rd, on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Sophomore Score: Richards beat Plainfield East 65-47 Tuesday night. Carlos Thomas led the Bulldogs with 21 points, including three three-pointers.
