Jenkins is No. 1 Power Source for Richards

Bulldogs remain unbeaten and atop weekly softball power rankings; Stagg and Oak Forest inch up the ladder.

1. Richards (18-0): Hannah Jenkins slugged a two-run homer and scored three runs in the Bulldogs’ 12-1 five-inning victory over crosstown rival Oak Lawn. Kristina Apato went 3-for-4 and scored two runs. Last week: No. 1.

2. Stagg (17-1): Have a week? How about a day? Faith Johnson belted two doubles and a triple in the Chargers’ 19-0 victory over Thornwood. She also drove in six runs. Victoria Dellorto added two hits and two RBIs. Last week: No. 3.

3. Oak Forest (16-2): The Bengals roared to a 4-0 victory over Mother McAuley behind their battery of Emilys. Emily Naegele smacked a two-run homer into the teeth of a strong wind. Emily Norton pitched no-it ball for 6.2 innings. She struck out 10. Samantha Bal was ready to play ball, too. She went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs. Last week: No. 5.

4. Sandburg (11-4): Rain, rain, go away, the Eagles want to come out and play. Weather caused more postponements and/or cancelations and kept Sandburg on the sidelines. But don't fret. The Eagles are set to resume with a makeup game vs. Lincoln-Way East at 4:30 p.m. today. Last week: No. 2.

5. Lincoln-Way East (12-2): Caught looking ahead? East dropped a 3-2 decision to district rival Lincoln-Way Central despite two hits and two RBIs from Jill Reid. Carissa Ernet added two hits and scored two runs. Next: The Griffins face Sandburg. Last week: No. 4.
