Oak Lawn Boys Basketball Driving on New Rhodes

Jason Rhodes takes reins as Spartans new coach. He replaces Scott Atkins following a 15-12 season that saw Oak Lawn notch its highest win total since 1986.

Oak Lawn will be driving down new Rhodes as it looks to motor back into the mainstream conversation of Chicagoland high school boys basketball.

Jason Rhodes has been named as the Spartans’ new coach. He replaces Scott Atkins following a 15-12 season. Atkins led Oak Lawn to its highest win total since 1986 in his final year.

Rhodes has seven years of high school coaching experience on his resume, including two years as the head coach at Chicago Kenwood Academy from 2006-08. In ’08, he led Kenwood to a regional championship.

He was named the Chicago Public League junior varsity Coach of the Year in 2002-03. He played college basketball at Goshen (Ind.).

Rhodes will work as a counselor at Oak Lawn.

“His experience and demeanor are going to make him very successful here,” Oak Lawn athletic director Will Dwyer said in a news release. “We are excited to bring his passion and expertise to Oak Lawn.”
