Oak Lawn's Lindelsee Tops List of Spartan Fall Sports Award Winners

Senior cross country standout Eric Lindelsee enjoys one last memorable run for the Spartans. Girls golf sectional qualifier Danielle Burns nabs team MVP award.

Oak Lawn senior boys cross country standout Eric Lindelsee went on quite a memorable run this fall.

He led the Spartans to the South Suburban Red Conference title, a fifth-place finish in the Class 3A Marist Regional and berth in the Lockport Sectional. He also advanced to the IHSA Class 3A state meet and placed 65th with a time of 15:22 for 3.0 miles.

Lindelsee was named Oak Lawn’s team MVP at the Spartans’ fall sports awards night. Teammate Dan Powers earned the Sportsmanship Award in boys cross country. T.J. Michaels, Joe Probst, Nick Minnella, Calvin Demski and Farid Khatib also were recognized as sectional qualifiers for .

In girls golf, Danielle Burns gained all-conference and all-regional recognition. She also qualified for IHSA sectional play and was named the Spartans’ team MVP. In boys golf, Kyle Ferraro was an all-conference pick and was the Oak Lawn Sportsmanship Award winner.

Senior Sean Hayden earned offensive MVP honors in football. Senior Mike Calandriello was named the defensive MVP. Jeff Emanuelson won the Sportsmanship Award. Hayden, Calandriello and Dan Townsend were named to the all-conference team.

Oscar Barragan won team MVP honors in boys soccer. Mohammad Suleiman took the Sportsmanship Award. Barragan and Charlie Alcantar were recognized as all-conference selections. Jakub Gil was a special-mention all-conference pick.

In girls swimming, Caitlin Danforth won the team MVP award. Angela Roti was the Sportsmanship Award winner. Danforth (200 free) earned all-conference honors in an individual event. She also teamed with Maria Vilarete, Maddy Heredia and Renata Gray to gain all-conference recognition in the 200 medley relay.

Claudia Maka was Oak Lawn’s team MVP in girls tennis. Sarah Ghouleh won the Sportsmanship Award.

Becky Bradshaw was named the Spartans’ team MVP in girls volleyball. Katie Gulino won the Sportsmanship Award. Bradshaw also was an all-conference pick. Olivia Lindner earned honorable-mention all-conference recognition.

In girls cross country, Kasia Szczurek was the team MVP and an all-conference runner.
