Richards dream season ends in heartbreaking loss against Batavia for state-title game, 34-14.

It was a great season for the Richards Bulldogs, but in the end they couldn't bring home a state championship, losing to Batavia's Bulldogs in the Class 6A final, 34-14. 

Richards was outplayed from the start, with Batavia scoring two big plays in the first quarter. Batavia marched the ball 71 yards in nine plays, scoring its first touchdown from the 2-yard line.

Moments later, Batavia’s Michael Moffat ran the ball 91 yards for Batavia’s second touchdown.

Richards wouldn’t answer back until the second quarter, with a 46-yard hit from Hasan Muhammad-Rogers to Dedrik Shannon for a nine-yard touchdown.

The Richards Bulldogs scored again in the third quarter on 12-yard run by Muhammad-Rogers for the last score of the game.

In the end, it was Batavia’s day from start to finish. Batavia intercepted a pass in the fourth and won the Class 6A championship.
