Tae Kwon Do State Qualifying Tournament Set for Sunday

Students of Joon Lee Martial arts schools will show off their best moves in the American Tae Kwon Do state qualifying tournament Sunday at the Oak Lawn Pavilion.

Can you crack a board with your bare hand? Are you into the Martial Arts?

Yes?

Well, then this is an event right up your self-defense training alley: The American Tae Kwon Do state qualifying tournament. Registration is at 8 a.m. and competition begins at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Oak Lawn Pavilion, 9401 S. Oak Park Ave.

Admission is $10 for adults. Children under the age of 5 will be admitted free of charge.

The ATU qualifying tournament is hosted by state chapter president and Grand Master Joon Lee of Joon Lee's Tae Kwon Do School in Oak Lawn and Orland Park. And it serves as a final warm-up event for the ATU National Championship June 16 in Atlanta.

More than 30 students ranging in age from 6 to 61 have trained this season at Joon Lee's. The students will compete in forms and sparring during the state qualifying tournament, all the while showing off their endurance and stamina building techniques.

So, if you're into kicks, punches, blocks and Martial Arts steps, then this is the event for you.
