Open Mic, ‘Bevs and Bites,’ GOP and Elvis Top the Week Ahead

A quick look at some local events happening this week.

Do you sing or play an instrument? Tell jokes? Write poetry or fiction? Musicians, comedians and writers are invited to bring their talent to the stage at SIP Appetizer Bar at 4911 W. 95th St., from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 16. Enjoy great appetizers and drink specials while cheering for your friends on the stage. Open mic night at SIP happens every Thursday evening. Free parking is available behind the bar.

GOP Meet and Greet

The Worth Township Regular Republican Organization is hosting a candidate’s forum for Republicans running in the upcoming Illinois primary starting at 7 p.m. at Johnson-Phelps VFW Post 5220, 9514 S. 54nd Ave., in Oak Lawn. Confirmed candidates are Jim Oberweiss, Senator Bill Brady, Bruce Rauner, Doug Truax, Paul Schimpf, Bob Grogan and Tom Cross.  Come on out and meet or show your support for these concerned candidates.

St. Paul ‘Bevs and Bites’ Benefit

St. Paul Lutheran Church and School PTL cordially invite community members to an evening of Amazing Appetizers and Luscious Libations prepared with quality kitchen tools from The Pampered Chef. Free Pampered Chef products will be raffled off and a movie will be shown for the kids if you cannot find a babysitter. 7 p.m., FREE.
