BACtoberfest - The Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th Street, will host an Oktoberfest event featuring food, music and and a special on Goose Island Oktoberfest beer. The music schedule is the Bratwurst Brothers playing from 5 pm. to 6 pm., Brown Bag from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, Terriers will perform from 7:45 to 8:45 p.m. and The In- Laws band from 9 to 10 p.m. Food and deserts will be by Sweet Freaks. Admission is $10.
Murph's Gift of Music Fundraiser - The benefit concert and event at 115 Bourbon Street, 3359 West 115th Street, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. will support the The Michael J. Murphy Scholarship Music Fund, an award that supports music and dance lessons as well as provides instruments to children from families that do not have the financial means for this opportunity. Performing will be Coyote Riot, The Chancey Brothers, A Week Back and Friends and The Larkin and Moran Brothers. Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for ages 13-20 years old, $5 for ages 6-12 years old. Recycling Event - Sen. Bill Cunningham (18th) and Rep. Fran Hurley (35th) are in cooperation with the Worth Township Senior Club and AT&T are hosting a free recycling event at Worth Township at 11601 W. Pulaski Ave. from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Bring your sensitive papers, financial documents and other materials that you would like to shred.
More Free Paper Shredding - Looking for something to do with your Saturday morning? How about bringing your canceled checks, financial documents and sensitive papers over to Standard Bank and Trust at 7800 W. 95th St., in Hickory Hills. The bank is offering free paper shredding starting at 10 a.m. Limit is four banker boxes per household.
Queen of Martyrs Trivia Night - Queen of Martyrs Church, , will host a trivia contest featuring cash prizes and a raffle. Doors open at 6 p.m. and trivia runs from 7 to 10 p.m.$250 per table of 10 or $25 per person.
OLCHS PTSA Holiday Craft and Business Showcase - The PTSA of Oak Lawn Community High School is hosting a holiday craft fair and business showcase featuring crafters and artisans from around the region. Local businesses and vendors from the Oak Lawn area will also be on hand to display their products and services. Palos Park Paranormal Conference - Vendors, speakers and demonstrations from experts in the field will be on hand at the unique conference at the Palos Country Club, 13100 Southwest Highway, this Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19 and 20. Johnson-Phelps VFW Fall Craft and Vendor Fair - The fine ladies of the Johnson-Phelps VFW Ladies Auxiliary are putting on their third annual fall craft and vendor show. This intimate showcase offers a diverse selection of crafters and vendors, including Tastefully Simple, Pampered Chef, Partylite, Thirty One, Origami Owl, Scentsy Wickless Candles, Nomade's, Premier Design and much more. Complete ALL of your fall/winter-time shopping and beat the holiday rush. Lunch and beverages will be sold along with the Ladies Aux bake sale and a fun raffle.
