Dist. 1 Candidate: DAN RISLEY

Dan Risley Bio

My name is Dan Risley. I've been a resident of Oak Lawn for the past 20 years. I've spent the past 15 living in District #1. My wife (Vicki) and I were married at St. Geralds’ church. All four of our children attended Harnew and Simmons Middle School. Vicki is a teacher at Harnew School. I'm employed by Allstate Insurance Company as a Market Claim Manager based out of their headquarters in Northbrook, IL. I've been very active in the community. The following is a list of past as well as current experiences:
- District 229 School Board member - Chairman Village of Oak Lawn Traffic Commission - Chairman O.L.C.H.S. Citizen Sub Committee appointed by then Superintendent Jim Briscoe - Chairman Harnew School Traffic Committee - Chairman Westside Baseball Fundraising Committee - Westside Baseball Board member and manager - St Geralds’ Boys and Girls Basketball coach - Donate time to PADS Shelter at 94th and 51st Ave.
Time permitting, I also try to donate time to worthwhile organizations or causes outside of Oak Lawn. - Raised over $250k for Camp Mak a Dream (camp for children with active cancer) - Raised money for men to receive free prostate screenings - Raised money to purchase books for schools
- Regularly donate blood to Life Source
I believe I would be a good representative for the residents of District #1 and Oak Lawn because I believe in giving back and I intend on upholding the values and integrity of my predecessors (Trustee Hurckes and Hoelestra). They have professionally and ethically represented our community for the past decade and I am committed to do the same. My goal in life is to "Always do the right thing, for the right reasons". If you can do that, you never have to wonder or recall what you said or did because doing the right thing requires integrity, honesty and transparency. If entrusted to be the Trustee, you will never have to wonder.
