Who's behind "the leaf" and why are they hiding?
Luther April 15, 2014 at 06:36 pm
Yeah, I was against it before I was for it. I liked Streit before I didn't. Was for Heilmann or wasRead More I, I forget. That might have been a good idea, let me check. Whatever they did was bad, except when I was on their side, now I'm for it cause I'm on this side now. Wait I feel a sudden wind, maybe it's that time again.
andy skoundrianos April 15, 2014 at 06:48 pm
Sounds like Streit to me Luther maybe pot=kettle to him. Unlike you I have never not said who IRead More supported or did not in the past. Bob went off the deep end when he barely won by 7 votes and tried to cut a deal with Heilmann he gambled and lost. No one has backed him since. He lost all of his supporters he choose his path now he has to deal with the results.

The ex-mayor and his crew needs to let things go. if he would have spent the same amount of timeRead More he is spending on the new mayor maybe he would still have an office in village hall
Brendan R. Appel April 16, 2014 at 06:49 am
Please think and put two and two together. This state started on its downward spiral when Blago wasRead More elected and has continued through Quinn, but that's not the whole picture. Since Blago, this entire state has been controlled (with supermajorities most of the time) by the DEMOCRAT party. That party, led by Madigan, Cullerton and Quinn has driven this state into the ground, and yet a majority of the people in this state continue to vote for and financially support them (see Channing above). Until all of us vote the Democrats out of office, nothing will change. Voting for Democrats = fiscal ruin. Please stop.

@Kim Johnson. Not that it matters, but you have your facts wrong. President Barack Obama nominatedRead More Leonhart for the position of DEA Administrator on 2/2/2010. The issue here is people should be able to shop at a store without being followed or have the NSA track each word I am typing.

Bob LeMay April 15, 2014 at 01:55 pm
While I don't know MercyMe's song "Dear Younger Me", Brad Paisley has an obviously similarRead More song "If I Could Write a Letter to Me". As a science fiction fan I would hesitate changing anything in my past, for fear of losing my wonderful wife and sons, but there are certainly things I've done that experience and greater knowledge and stronger faith have shown me were wrong, and that I now wish I hadn't done. Perhaps the better way to phrase it is that I wish I had someone in my life THEN who had been willing to give me the benefit of THEIR experience and greater knowledge and stronger faith to lead me along a better path. And that leads me to understand that I need to be THAT PERSON for others now! I must explain the hard facts and the truth that will prevent regret and heartache for someone else later. Thankfully, I know that I am forgiven by God, and, because of my own repentance, I am unburdened by those mistakes of my past.

Boy I'm so glad we have all these gun laws. They really work! What a crock. It's only the lawRead More abiding that follow the rules. Idiots like this don't follow any laws or rules. it took Chicago heights police 41/2 months to arrest George Kleopa in the murder of ourRead More daughter.unless you stay on top of them and make a pain in the ass out of yourself the police move very slowly.then you have to wait years for the court to get around to justice.the whole family is the victim.

This was out in my neck of the woods. All really great kids, college bound and starting their adultRead More lives. Having lost a child, I can say these families will mourn for as long as they live, and will have to find a "new normal" as EVERYTHING is changed for them now...I wish them strength, there is nothing quite like burying a child. Appreciated are the messages of respect and sympathy. It can be annoying to get news from areas other than your own, however the new Patch is doing things differently, and show no evidence of changing it back.....my best advice would be to ignore stories not in your area, and to write your editor directly, and share your comments with those who can make changes.

Kathleen April 15, 2014 at 08:47 pm
OK, let me take a wild guess here...This is Massachusetts so it shouldn't be that difficult toRead More figure it out. These two crack heads in their 40's are on SSI, claiming some phony disability and are living on SSI in a Section 8 apartment in a senior complex. Probably a good guess right? They put senior citizens in grave danger and will probably get a slap on the wrist and sent right back to live in the elderly housing... just a guess of course but probably pretty accurate. Either that or they are living in an apartment with one of their parents and are not on the lease but yet still live there...only in MA!
Geoff Burton April 15, 2014 at 09:40 pm
Kathleen I don't get the Massachusetts reference, having said that I think your about right.
century April 15, 2014 at 10:30 pm
Kathleen, your right. As for housing, the less number of homeless, the more grant money the city andRead More state receives for housing. It happens all the time in Pennsylvania. Free loaders like the crackheads mentioned in the story is why people who have legimate disabilities are judged as liars and have to fight for their rights.
Alice Riley April 15, 2014 at 09:12 am
Oh and in one year our property taxes more than doubled--and that's not even including what theRead More mayor plans to do with increasing property taxes. This state is run by corrupt politicians and union leaders. Their ineptitude has what has led us to this fiscal nightmare and they continue to look the other way and just expect to have the residents pay even more to solve the problems of their own making..
Grumpy Old Man April 15, 2014 at 01:33 pm
@Southeast Side - Well, if all of the middle class has moved out of Chicago it will be othersRead More (wealthy, poor, working class) who are paying the tax. If your argument is that there still is a middle class in Chicago and that they will pay the tax, say it. As it is your response just sounds like a left wing shill. Other than your last comment, I happen to think your post has a point because I think implicit in your response is that there is still a significant middle class in Chicago (but if taxes keep going up the comment in the main article could be a self fulfilling prophesy - maybe not - there is some controversy over whether millionaires would leave the state if the 3% additional surtax was imposed on earnings above $1 million).
Grumpy Old Man April 15, 2014 at 01:57 pm
Frankly, I am not so sure that Zorn doesn't have a point. The ever escalating property taxes affectRead More all of us and probably in excess of what we would pay in terms of increased property taxes (or rent increases due to them). However, it would require some trade off - like a reduced property tax level than currently in place and a single taxing entity for Chicago - the council to set all taxes in the City including taxes for CPS. I don't have the answer but I wouldn't mind some reduction in services and something done abut the constitutional provision that these pensions can't be touched regardless of how economic downturns affect the ability of the investments in which the funds are deposited to maintain a pension amount at a given level.

It says Around Town but the headline is UTAH. Utah is not near Natick!! I think everyone should notRead More open an article on Patch unless they see their town's name in the headline. So If it doesn't say Natick, then we all know it is not LOCAL to the Natick Patch. The less clicks these Patch sites get, the fewer advertisers they will get and then perhaps they will realize if we want sensational news from across the country we'd go back to Patch's former owners AOL and the HuffPost! Those here from other Patch sites - I think you should do the same only click on articles that mention your community's name. No name. No click!

@William, You are the reason many folks leave this town. Liberal values, no sense of neighborhoodRead More trust, and pure judgment. So...should I tell my children they were conceived by a "sperm donor" as you think? Believe me, you didn't get me "worked up", only my "sperm donor" can do that. Sorry to disappoint. I won't even acknowledge the rest of your pint-sized egotistical comments. Talk to me when you have a disabled child, are a cancer survivor, and work hard enough to understand the real value of Conservative life. I am leaving this uppity town soon. It's quite sad, truthfully. I talk to many and they want out because of people you. I am leaving Illinois, I won't look back on Geneva as a good place to be even though I've been here 13 years. I only stayed for my "Sperm donor-ed children". You're a ruthless pig. William? William who? Reveal yourself like a real man would. You're a coward just like a terrorist. Saying ruthless things to belittle a woman, you're also an abuser. Seems to me your a bitter old man. May God forgive you, for he knows not what he does.
