Francisco Espinal-Quiroz, 51, could face more charges in the highway deaths of four people Monday, July 21, including Ulrike Blopleh of Channahon.
Jp July 23, 2014 at 01:35 pm
It's was a horrible accident. My heart goes out to the families. The news did a cover story on thisRead More stretch of highway. It showed 172 accident 6 deaths and 58 injuries. The state needs to take a look into that. I do feel his bail is excessive. Let alone made him out to look like a murderer who intentionally did this. I guarantee he wishes it was him rather than to take 4 lives. I think there are many occupations that don't require log books yet these people have been up for 24 hrs + and they get behind the wheel. Yes he should be held responsible but There are people committing horrific crimes that don't get that kind of bail. I know when something horrible happens they want to throw the book at that person. Unfortunately nothing will change the outcome. A perfect example is cell phones. Many deaths have resulted from people causing accidents while on the phone. It's against the law to use them when driving but I see it every day. I will say people are responsible for there actions and there the only ones to blame. Don't put the blame on the state police. That's not on them. I feel for them and everyone on that scene because no doubt it was a horrific accident scene

What's with the mention of the restriction for a vision disability. I have one of those on myRead More license. It means I wear corrective lenses. The guy most likely fell asleep at the wheel, you can do that while having perfect eyesight.

I believe it is legal to take photographs/video in public as long as there is no reasonableRead More expectation of privacy and there are no posted rules prohibiting photographs/video. I'm curious if the pool has any such advertised rules on photographs/video. And it does say filming adults, not minors. I don't see anything about underage or undressing (taking off a coverup/shirt to show a bikini?) There has to be more to the story or else I don't see the crime.

While she is most assuredly mentally ill, she definitely planned this event by hiding thatRead More sledgehammer in the closet. Obviously she had some wits about her to plan a future, horrid attack like this even while being mentally ill. How sad and depressing.

Hey Michelle, Who should pay for this lunatics mental health? The taxpayers? Take a look at thatRead More house she lived in!! Very expensive and she has a public defender? This family knew she was a nut case and they left that baby there as the baby was sleeping and felt she was safe. I hope she burns in hell and I hope the other inmates get to her. As much as I have compassion for the STUPID STUPID family they are responsible for that beautiful childs' death. She did not deserve to die at the hands of her own grandmother. I wish her nothing but pain. If somebody needs treatment for mental health then pay for it.

Police investigate scene at 95th Street and Cicero Avenue in Oak Lawn on Saturday, June 14, 2014, where a pedestrian was fatally struck by an SUV, according to reports. | Ashton Lockhart
Oak Lawn Resident June 18, 2014 at 07:53 am
Although the details regarding the events leading just before the incident have not been provided, IRead More would like to make a few comments regarding the intersection of 95th and Cicero. This intersection is congested with traffic and the street signage and street signals are in very poor condition. In addition, the poor maintenance of the streets nearing this intersection adds to the difficulty of maintaining both vehicular and pedestrian safety. The Village of Oak Lawn should act quickly and diligently in responding to this incident by resurfacing the streets of 95th and Cicero Ave, improving the street signage and traffic signals, and adding speed deterrents to govern the traffic levels. It is sad the Village of Oak Lawn was not proactive in addressing these concerns earlier, which could have saved the life of this individual and prevent further concern for pedestrians crossing this hazardous intersection.
OakLawnGuy June 18, 2014 at 08:25 am
OL doesn't have jurisdiction regarding maintenance on 95th (a US highway) or Cicero (State OfRead More Illinois). Same goes for 103rd, which is covered by the county. The Village can make recommendations and requests but has to cut through a lot of bureaucracy to do so. The reworking of the SW Hwy/Central intersection is an example of that.
Silly People July 1, 2014 at 07:43 am
