The Village of Oak Lawn's municipal offices are headquartered in a contemporary building in the heart of Oak Lawn.More Across the street, you'll find the Oak Lawn Public Library and the Village Green, an open green space with a modern children's playground, walking paths and a gazebo. Here, you'll find the offices of the mayor, village clerk, trustees, village manager and other agencies that manage the day-to-day operations of Oak Lawn.

The mayor and the village's board of trustees hold public meetings at Village Hall, where they vote on expenditures of public tax money and other policy decisions affecting the village's well-being.

Departments housed at Village Hall include police, fire, community services, emergency communications, economic development, public works, finance, human resources, development and growth management, and the office of the village manager.

Residents can go to Village Hall to pay their water bills, parking tickets, sewer and garbage bills and purchase vehicle stickers or do so online. Building plans for the purpose of obtaining construction permits are also reviewed at Village Hall, as are applications for zoning changes, which require review by the village board's zoning committee. Village officials are also available for solving community issues.

In recent years, the village has increased the number and frequency of special events, such as summer outdoor movies and concerts on "the Green," a pumpkin festival and an Easter egg hunt. Most popular is the annual "Fall on the Green" traditionally held in September, featuring family-friendly entertainment, music and food from local restaurants.

Oak Lawn is divided into six neighborhood districts represented by a district trustee. Half of the trustees' six-member board is up for election every two years; the mayor and village clerk are up for election every four years. The village clerk is the only full-time, elected official.

Burke or staff can connect residents with state services for seniors and the disabled, job training for the unemployed, check the status of a state application or help residents cut through red tape on the state level.

Residents who visit the constituent service office can expect courteous and professional service.

Rep. Burke's office is all on one level so it's wheelchair accessible. Street parking is available and there are also six parking spaces behind the office.
