95th Street Corridor Survey, Christ Hospital Easement Highlight Village Board Agenda

The Oak Lawn Village Board will have one more shot at tackling important village issues before the April 9 election.

And now the end is near, and as they face the final curtain before the April 9 election, tonight is the last village board meeting that Trustee Tom Phelan (Dist. 6) and perhaps a few others will have to suffer gladly. Read the Frank Sinatra Memorial ‘My Way’ village board agenda. So let the record show they did it their way. Here’s what we’ll be watching: The 2012 Fire and Public Safety Coloring Contest Safety Winners – Oak Lawn elementary school students Kayla O’Brien, Aleksander Petrovic, Mila Revell, Hiba Quarerhni, Andy Schroeder and Alessandra Vicenteno will be picking up their awards in what is likely to be the highlight of the evening for their colorful interpretations of public safety. 95th Street Corridor Plan Citizen Survey – …

Traffic Signal Held Hostage by Politics, Larvicide Top Village Board Agenda

Is the traffic signal project at Southwest Highway and Central Avenue being purposely stalled until after the April 9 election? We’ll find out at tonight’s village board meeting.

It’s a light and lively agenda when the Oak Lawn Village Board takes the dais tonight at 7:30 p.m. With the upcoming election, we’re sure that all the politics will be left at the door as board members hunker down and work together in a calm and cooperative manner for the betterment of Oak Lawn. Read the light and lively village board agenda. Here’s what we’ll be watching: Southwest Highway/Central Traffic Signalization: Is the left turn lane/signalization project at Southwest Highway and Central Avenue being held hostage until after the April 9th election? Trustee Alex Olejniczak (Dist. 2) noted that after reading the last public works committee minutes from Dec. 12 that Cook County supposedly no longer ranks the project as a priority. …

'Speeders' Lands on Village Board Agenda

Oak Lawn Village Board meets for the first time in 2013.

The curtain rises on a new year as the Oak Lawn Village Board meets for the first time in 2013. Today (Tuesday, Jan. 8) also would have been Elvis’s 78th birthday. This group hasn’t gotten together since Dec. 11. Since then, much has transpired: another federal criminal subpoena, gunfire outside of Chuck E. Cheese’s, a trustee’s announcement that he would not be seeking another term and the battening down of village board races. See the attached pdf of the Jan. 8 Elvis memorial village board agenda. If the last village board meeting is any indication, audiences in the board chamber are starting to get larger for the latest installments of “Village Board Kabuki Theater” as we ramp up toward the April 9 election. Here’s what we’ll be …

Out-of-Town Contracts, Hospital Expansion, Alley Repaving Land on Village Board Agenda

Oak Lawn trustees will plow through a resolution-packed, A-H consent agenda at Nov. 13 village board meeting.

It’s a value-meal agenda for the Oak Lawn Village Board, which convenes at 7:30 p.m. tonight (Tuesday) at Ye Olde Village Hall, just in case you’re DVRing it on Ch. 4. Oak Lawn trustees will vote on an A-H consent agenda, plus a cornucopia of resolutions and proclamations. The meeting could last a half-hour or four—village board members will most likely be picking up discussion of a resolution approving the paving of an additional alley pursuant to the 2012 alley-paving program, so all bets are off. Read the value-meal Oak Lawn Village Board agenda for Nov. 13, 2012. Here’s what we’ll be watching: Update on 111th Street and Cicero Avenue demolition: Village Manager Larry Deetjen will updating board members on demolition of the old Kmart …

Why is the village going to wast money by buying Interstate Muffler off their land, and lose the jobs and tax revenue it brings to build another development that we be empty...the development along cicero that was put in a few years ago has barely any business in it. And how they bought out the funeral home for it to sit empty and now house a medical office. Stupid.   more ›

Oak Lawn trustees will vote on an A-L consent agenda at October 9-village board meeting.

Oak Lawn Village Board's first regular board meeting of October just happens to fall on John Lennon’s 72nd birthday (Oct. 9), and all we are saying is ‘give peace a chance.’ The Oak Lawn Village Board votes tonight on an A-L agenda, plus plenty of calm discussion. See the pdf of tonight's medium-rare agenda. Here’s what we’ll be watching: Village Manager’s Report: Tan, rested and relaxed from his recent vacation, Larry Deetjen will deliver a report on the old Kmart demolition at 111th Street and Cicero Avenue, a Chicago Water Supply agreement and a new solar, experimental “public” trash and recycling program. Village Manager Deetjen will also give an update on the Patriot Station’s 9-11 First Responders Memorial Park Construction and other…

TIF Hearings, Halloween Hours Return to Village Board Agenda

Oak Lawn trustees will vote on an A-D consent agenda at the Sept. 25 village board meeting. Read what is and isn't on the agenda.

It’s a skimpy agenda for the Oak Lawn Village Board, which meets tonight (Tuesday) at 7:30 p.m. at ye olde Village Hall. Subscribe to the Oak Lawn Patch newsletter and breaking news alerts. Village board members should be rested and relaxed after two back-to-back monster agenda meetings, ready to tackle the important issues in Oak Lawn. Trustees will be voting on an A-D consent agenda. It should be a short evening but then we haven’t heard trustees’ new business or the village manager’s report yet. We'll bring some change for Cheetos from the vending machine just in case. If you don't want to give out candy past a certain time, turn off your light and don't answer the door. If you don't want your kid out late, make them come home at a time you set. The Oak Lawn government doesn't have anything better to do than protect the elderly by telling them not to answer the door, or deciding for parents how late children should be getting candy?   more ›
